A Case Manager over-sees each patient’s case, facilitates team communication, and coordinates patient scheduling. Patients who enter FRIUS are often poorly educated about the rules and regulations of the disability systems under which they are receiving care and benefits. This lack of knowledge can create a great deal of distress and uncertainty. For some patients, this education deficit has resulted in lack of medical care, or financial compensation, for which they are entitled. Case managers are experts in Texas Workers Compensation and other disability systems, so they can educate patients about the rules that all parties must work within (payer, providers, and patients) and help guide patients through their unique and individual case issues.
